If you're new to the CCTV market, it’s common to be unsure about the various types of equipment and the segments they can serve. To help you, we’ve outlined the three main types of IP cameras below—take a look:

Dome Camera

These are cameras in a circular format typically used in indoor environments, such as ceilings or walls. Due to their circular shape, dome cameras often allow for easy mobility of the lens for precise adjustments. Additionally, this type of camera can be found for both indoor and outdoor environments.

Bullet Cameras

Bullet cameras are the most well-known type of CCTV cameras, generally used for outdoor environments. The design of this type of camera was created for surfaces where user access is less likely, such as poles and certain non-linear wall types.

PTZ Cameras

PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) cameras are primarily designed for professional use and are typically controlled via a joystick or control software. Pan refers to the panoramic functionality, Tilt refers to vertical tilt, and Zoom refers to image magnification.
