The POS (Point of Sale) monitoring system is a specialized surveillance solution for retail points of sale, including supermarket checkout counters, department stores, wholesale trade, and more.
For this type of project, it is generally necessary to use IP cameras and software that integrates directly with the point-of-sale system used in the store.
One common objective in monitoring POS is to obtain precise information about what is being processed at the checkout, allowing for analysis of the item passing through the sensor and the information from the point-of-sale system. This enables features such as alerting potential errors or discrepancies in items that were not registered in the point-of-sale system.
We will use the Milestone XProtect Retail system as an example of software for POS systems. It features intelligent search capabilities that allow retrieval of product data through queries, and it is one of the many modules of the Milestone system, enabling high-level integrations for various projects, such as POS integrated with ATMs.
At the corporate level, data can be segmented by store, operator groups, or store groups, allowing refinement of the algorithm to identify adverse events within the system.
