When starting a CCTV project, it’s essential to analyze the site layout and camera placement to determine the appropriate specifications for each scenario.

A surveillance camera can include various specifications, such as structural design (e.g., dome and bullet), lens specifications and range (e.g., PTZ and panoramic), as well as image capture extensions like infrared and WDR.

Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

WDR, which translates to “wide dynamic range” in Portuguese, is a feature commonly found in security cameras. Generally, this technology enhances image capture in areas where intense light can interfere with the identification of objects and people.

This type of capture issue often occurs in indoor or shaded areas with openings to external light, such as stores with display windows, covered parking lots, or spaces with large windows, as these can prevent the camera from capturing two different types of light in the same scene.

Dynamic Capture

WDR technology combined with dynamic capture can be found in some modern camera models and allows for the stabilization of two or more types of light in a single environment, enabling the cropping of images to ensure both areas are visible with proper lighting quality.
