In Part 1 of this article, we introduced the basic functionalities of an access controller and defined its importance for projects involving LPR, Video Intercom, and access scheduled by date and time.

In Part 2, we will detail some more interesting technologies for which obtaining an access control device is useful and how to utilize them.

QR Code

The access controller not only integrates with video devices for person and object identification but can also be used with a QR code system, enabling image analysis and decision-making based on predefined parameters.

QR codes are already well-known in the tech market and can be generated as unique codes, providing a secure access method. Additionally, QR codes can be digitally sent to users with expiration dates or specific access limits that are interpreted by the access controller, offering a technologically efficient and sustainable solution.

Badges and Cards

Controllers like the Axis A1001 feature direct integration with touch-free readers (without keyboards), such as the Axis A4010-E, which support most smart card formats and can integrate with surveillance cameras to manage entries and ensure proper card usage.

Vehicle Tags

Beyond LPR projects, there are other alternatives for vehicle access control, including the use of Tags on vehicles accessing specific locations.

These Tags can function like badges and/or contain a QR code for access, or, for example, an RFID chip that, together with a reader device, can send data to an access controller to perform analysis.

Beyond the technologies mentioned above, access controllers like the Axis A1001 are developed with open-source code and can accommodate other projects such as biometrics, turnstile management, security code via keyboard readers, and more.
