Firewall (literally 'firewall') are network devices that monitor data entry and exit, making security-based blocking decisions based on predefined rules, functioning as a barrier for the network system.
The practice of using firewalls in a network has been common for over 25 years, and during this period, the device has undergone several technological advancements known as 'generations'.
Additionally, there are two ways to use firewalls: via Hardware and Software. Software-based firewalls are the most well-known among home network users, as the Windows operating system from Microsoft includes a native firewall during installation that helps block security threats to the computer.
For networks that use more than one computer, such as business networks, a hardware-based firewall is the ideal solution to manage connections and deliver data according to the established rules. There are various models available to meet the needs of small, medium, and large networks.
Advancements Demand Enhanced Security
With the significant technological advancements over the past years, network connection methods have evolved. Today, it is common to connect to the internet via mobile devices, and these changes bring risks to both personal and, especially, business data.
To address this, many technology companies are exploring new ways to ensure data protection and management with ease. Previously, data restrictions were managed via IP, but today, these restrictions can be managed through web domains and applications.
