First of all, a video surveillance project can be developed for various purposes, whether for monitoring, protection and security, access control, people counting, and tracking. These purposes are not necessarily exclusive, meaning that monitoring can result in various advantages, especially if the chosen equipment interacts/integrates with each other.
When the project is directed towards an educational network, equipment such as an IP camera can be used for access control at an entrance and for monitoring and supervising students by parents and guardians through cloud-integrated software that transmits the same image shown at the entrance to restricted applications accessed by those who are permitted.
The number of projects that can be specifically developed for educational networks is diverse and brings technology, innovation, and primarily security to those who acquire them.
Generation Y
Generation Y is primarily considered to include those born between the 1980s and 1990s, and today they make up a large portion of parents and guardians of children in early childhood and elementary education.
This generation was born amidst significant technological advancements and the sociocultural changes brought about by this revolution. For this reason, they exhibit different behaviors from the previous generation and show greater concern for environmental and social causes.
The way Generation Y interacts with their children also influences the decision-making factor in choosing a school, where new concerns arise as differentiators (or even minimum requirements) for the final decision.
Transparency, Participation, and Communication
We extracted some data from a survey conducted in August 2017 by ClassApp with 60 private educational institutions, and the results demonstrate greater concern among parents for the individual care of each student, see the graphs below:
The information above shows greater concern among parents and guardians regarding relationships, transparency, and communication within the educational network.
Cloud-based CCTV systems – Availability and reliability
We can relate the data from the graphs above to the advantages that a cloud-based CCTV system can present to an educational institution, consequently demonstrating this analysis as a competitive advantage in choosing the right school.
An appropriate video surveillance project with integrated cloud equipment and software allows for real-time access to monitored images and makes them available at any time through access via smartphones, computers, or tablets, resulting in transparency in communication between the educational institution and the daily routines of Generation Y parents and guardians.
Moreover, cloud-based video surveillance software allows for monitoring storage for up to 7 days in a secure and encrypted environment, protecting the integrity of the monitored data and providing access only to those who are permitted.
In this way, parents or guardians can search for and monitor their children from anywhere, and primarily ensure safety during the early years of a child's life.
