The Axis, a globally recognized company specializing in manufacturing IP CCTV equipment, has developed an IP camera that unifies multiple functionalities to enable large-area projects to rely on a single, easy-to-implement solution. Among the various solutions launched in the CCTV market, Axis stands out for its quality and cutting-edge technology.

P3707-PE and P3717-PLE

Both models are part of the Axis P37 line, designed to provide solutions for large areas such as shopping centers, factories, parking lots, warehouses, and general corporate environments. Additionally, the P37 models enable 360° monitoring, with both the P3707-PE and P3717-PLE offering 4 cameras within their dome capable of performing Pan, Tilt, and Roll movements. In the case of the latter model, it also allows for the Twist movement.

As we defined in our article on PTZ, the Pan movement of the embedded 4 cameras is responsible for horizontal perimeter visualization, while Tilt handles vertical visualization, and Roll is the rotational movement responsible for dynamic lens movement.

In the case of the P3717-PLE, an additional movement called Twist (or Torque) was added, allowing the 4 cameras to perform angular movement between Pan, transforming linear movements into articulated ones. This enables two cameras to combine for a wide-angle view while another camera zooms in on the perimeter, providing detailed monitoring.

Furthermore, both P37 models consolidate the 4 cameras into a single IP address for management and feature the Zipstream technology, which reduces bandwidth usage and saves storage and network costs.

What’s the Difference Between the Models?

The P3707-PE model, launched in 2016, introduced several innovative features for the market, while the P3717-PLE, launched in 2018, includes additional functionalities such as an infrared sensor that enhances 360° monitoring, particularly in dark environments. It also features Axis Lightfinder and Forensic WDR technologies, ensuring clear and colorful images in low-light conditions.

The main advantage of acquiring these models is the ability to get four cameras for the price of one. Both models are classified as panoramic, offer 8MP resolution across all cameras, and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.
