The term PTZ is widely popular in the CCTV market, and as we explore in the following article, it stands for Pan – Tilt – Zoom, which are the movement features of a camera.
Generally, a PTZ camera is more advantageous than a standard camera, as the possibilities for rotation and, consequently, framing range are extensive compared to a fixed camera.
However, while automatic-rotation cameras are available, many surveillance projects require personal control over this movement, and for this purpose, PTZ joysticks and control panels were developed.
Joystick
The joystick is a device responsible for controlling the movement of the PTZ camera. Typically, it provides precise camera movement control, as its mechanism includes a gyroscope that allows for smooth circular movements.
Modules and Control Panel
The control panel offers users all the necessary equipment for a complete solution. In the case of the Axis model, the T8310 is a device developed in modular form, allowing consumers to purchase only what is needed for their project.
In addition to the joystick, the control panel can include a surveillance keyboard module, which is a tool for quickly navigating between preset systems defined by the PTZ camera.
Finally, a control panel can also include the Jog Dial module, which is responsible for controlling the playback of PTZ camera recordings.
Installation and Connection
