The IP camera manufacturer Axis Communications continuously updates its catalog of solutions with products that gain support and access to the latest technologies.

Through these updates, various discontinued product lines are being replaced by new lines that not only meet the old specifications but also surpass them in several characteristics. One of these products is the new PTZ camera P5655-E that we will showcase in this article.

The PTZ Cameras of the P56 Line

The P56 line equipment is considered professional and intermediate-level products from the manufacturer Axis. Currently, this line has 3 types of cameras, all of which are PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) and support IP connection through POE outputs.

The first two cameras in the line, the P5624-E and the P5635-E, have HD and FullHD resolution respectively, in addition to sensors capable of capturing images with minimal light of up to 0.2 lux (see here for more information on light capture). Furthermore, the P5624-E has a 23x optical zoom, and the P5635-E has a 30x optical zoom.

So far, all cameras in the P56 line are suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments and have 360º capture in panoramic motion.

The P5655-E

The latest PTZ solution from Axis Communications is considered a cost-effective camera due to its power and high technology, comparable to the manufacturer's advanced lines, but at the cost of an intermediate camera.

Additionally, due to its recent release, the P5655-E has several features that are entering the CCTV market and becoming popular among niches.

One of the main features recently acquired by Axis is support for H.265 video compression, which significantly improves the transmission and storage of files, making it an extremely significant resource for network project savings.

H.265 combines with the unique functionality of Axis models called ZipStream, which enhances compression performance and elevates transmission quality to extreme levels.

Another unprecedented feature in Axis PTZ cameras is Lightfinder 2.0, the evolution of the already known Lightfinder technology for those who use Axis, which brings greater precision and sensitivity for color capture in dark environments. Lightfinder 2.0 was recently launched in May 2019.

Resolution and Image Quality in a PTZ

The P5655-E has a 32x optical zoom with a FullHD resolution of 1920x1080 and sensitivity for capturing in environments with a minimum light intensity of 0.1 lux. Additionally, the camera offers Forensic WDR technology, which improves image capture in scenes with contrasting light and shadow.

The model features electronic image stabilization to minimize noise and unwanted vibrations, as well as support for two-way audio, alarm inputs and outputs, and fully secure firmware.
