It is common to use motion detection devices to save energy by turning lights on and off when there is any presence in the detection area.
However, these devices are rarely used in conjunction with CCTV projects, but they can provide numerous benefits in the medium and long term.
This is due to the ability to use PIR devices to trigger monitoring and consequently reduce data storage of a device and also improve data transmission rates in a security network.
Axis T8331 Line
To meet this type of demand, Axis Communications, a manufacturer of CCTV and Network solutions, developed the T8331 line, which are motion detection devices using passive infrared technology.
These devices can be natively integrated with various equipment from the manufacturer, such as PTZ cameras, encoders, fixed cameras, domes, and door controllers. On the following page, you can check the devices compatible with the T8331.
The advantage of obtaining a device like this, in addition to the energy and storage savings mentioned above, is the possibility of an alternative device for projects that require motion detection to trigger some action. In many cases, the camera itself is used to verify movements through analytical software; however, depending on the model and quality of the camera, this functionality may not always be reliable and can further overload the data processing services of the servers.
With the use of the T8331, it is possible to connect the I/O connector that is already integrated into the device to the IP Camera and perform motion detection and scene recording.
The motion detection device is available in two versions: the T8331 for indoor environments and the T8331-E for outdoor environments. Both have an opening angle of 85º and can be installed at heights between 1.5 meters and 2.4 meters.
