As seen in the following article, thermal camera models have some characteristics that set them apart from common models, such as their sensors that allow for the capture of objects and living beings in environments with natural or artificial barriers to vision, such as fog, smoke, or walls.
The ability to capture objects and living beings without barriers can be a differentiator in surveillance projects against intruders. However, due to the numerous possibilities and permissive scenarios through thermal capture technology, it was necessary to take some restrictive measures for its use to protect the individual security of people and companies. Today, there is a certification of registration (or CR) that regulates who can acquire equipment such as thermal cameras for this type of protection.
Fortunately, there are some devices that can be sold without the registration certificate for various reasons. Axis Communications, a manufacturer of CCTV solutions and equipment, has developed some lines of thermal cameras with this characteristic, see below:
Q1941-E and Q1942-E
Part of Axis Communications' more robust camera line, the Q1941-E and Q1942 models feature a thermal sensor of 384x288 and 640x480 respectively, as well as support for POE and local storage. The models also support H.264 and Axis Zipstream, which improves the compression of captured images for transmission and storage savings. The CR-free options available are 7mm for the Q1941-E model and 10mm for the Q1942-E.
Q2901-E and Q2901-E PT mount
The difference between the Q2901-E and Q2901-E PT mount models is that the latter can be attached to the Axis T99A11 for the use of the Pan and Tilt feature (horizontal and vertical movements of the camera). Both have a thermal sensor resolution of 336x256, POE output, and the Q2901-E features two-way audio and alarm inputs and outputs.
