The combination of audio with IP video for monitoring large areas can greatly facilitate the daily operations of your security team. We know that cameras can be used for purposes beyond surveillance, just as speakers can also serve functions other than ambiance.
Both perform excellently when installed alone, but when installed together, they not only enhance security in the monitored area but also make the operators' work easier.
That’s why we are writing this article, to show some ways to use them together. So, come along with us?
More Security for Your Business
It is well established that music can relax and even entertain us, but beyond that, it is also one of the factors that influence our behavior. Even unconsciously, when we go to a supermarket, for example, the placement of products and that background music can increase customer spending in the store, enhancing the brand's presence in the consumer's mind.
Speakers can also be used to broadcast live announcements, such as calling someone to a specific area – you may have noticed this in department stores. Or for scheduled and live announcements in case of emergencies.
But they can also be integrated into your surveillance system. For example: you have a warehouse and monitor the flow of people and vehicles in the area. Through the images, it is possible to see details of individuals or employees who are not using the required personal protective equipment (PPE). With the speaker integrated into your system, a message can be sent instructing them to use PPE and even other reminders like goal setting, lunch hours, etc.
Another example of use is for perimeter monitoring. Imagine that one of your cameras detected an intruder and he is about to enter your perimeter. The camera will alert the operator, and he can use the audio system to inform the intruder that he is being monitored and that authorities will be notified after the announcement.
Often, this measure is enough for the offender to leave, avoiding the need for additional security measures.
Axis C1310-E: Flexible and Noise-Free Speaker
The C1310-E features bidirectional audio with an integrated microphone (which can be disabled), a pressure level that can reach 121DB, and a built-in 7W class D amplifier.
Its IP connection allows for security and password encryption, restricted user access, and access management. Additionally, all these features integrate with the open API system developed by Axis. It also allows for audio synchronization with up to 50 speakers and up to 50 pre-recorded voice announcements in its memory.
Its ratings – IP66, IP67, NEMA 4D MIL-STD 810G 509.5 – make it ideal for both internal use requiring wide coverage and external use such as parking lots, parks, yards...
Axis P3245-LVE for External Monitoring
It is ideal for monitoring retail environments, parking lots, and even yards. The P3245-LVE is a varifocal camera and has two lens options – 3-8.9mm for wide areas and 9-22mm for long-distance surveillance.
It features bidirectional audio that allows the user to hear what is happening in the scene and add third-party audio analytics enabling the detection of aggressive behaviors, for example.
If you want to expand your monitoring system, it can be integrated with other equipment, and since the input is supervised, if the connection is cut, an alarm will be sent to the operator.
It also includes the latest Axis technologies, such as Lightfinder 2.0, Forensic WDR, and OptimizedIR. Additionally, the camera comes with Zipstream factory-installed, as well as signed firmware and secure boot.
And we cannot forget its remote zoom and focus, allowing for close-ups and wide views without the need for manual fine-tuning. Its IK10 rating – impact and dust resistance – is extremely important for external monitoring.
