The combination of Milestone XProtect with MIP SDK offers endless integration possibilities to facilitate the operator's daily tasks. Many tasks that were previously done manually can now be accomplished with just one click.
This combination provides an open architecture solution with endless possibilities for features and functionalities to create new surveillance solutions.
If you want to know how this is possible, just keep reading!
So, what is the MIP SDK?
The Milestone Integration Platform Software Development Kit – MIP SDK – is a set of tools that facilitates the creation of applications and device drivers that will work in conjunction with the Milestone XProtect video management software.
Thanks to its development framework, not only is application integration allowed, but also hardware, cameras, and other devices, including its Driver Framework, which enables partners to develop and integrate more types of cameras and IoT devices into XProtect.
Extra: Internet of Things or IoT is the interconnection between everyday devices and the internet; the ability to connect any type of equipment and have them communicate with each other, remotely or with the cloud;
And how can it help me?
Often, electronic security systems have specific needs that only software customization can meet. But for these adjustments to be possible, the integration architecture must be open and flexible like that of the MIP SDK.
It supports three types of integration: basic protocol integration, component integration (standalone applications using MIP .NET libraries), and plug-in integration (hosted by XProtect application environments).
Additionally, Milestone Technology partners can create applications that access video for viewing, processing, or even displaying overlays based on metadata using integrated tools.
Moreover, the API and MIP SDK can be used to send your own events to the VMS and also to monitor and respond to events coming from the VMS.
What customizations can be made?
There are various automation options, especially for those routine manual tasks that take time to complete.
For example, it is possible to create or retrieve a list of alarms already generated from the event server or even use a protocol to retrieve a sequence of images.
For more agility, it is possible to integrate the .Net SOAP Login to obtain a simpler C# code to log into the system, and furthermore, analytical events can be sent to the Event Server via HTTPS formatted as XML.
Functions such as reading, updating, monitoring, controlling, and sending data to the VMS are also possible, as well as forwarding video from an XProtect device to a GStreamer pipeline.
It may seem like a lot, but this is just a small sample of the integrations that the MIP SDK is capable of performing.
