Challenges Encountered Along the Way...
Light Rail Vehicles are known for their efficiency and interaction with the urban environment. They operate at street level, preserving historical heritage and assisting in the revitalization of the streets they traverse.
But like all projects, the implementation of the VLT also faced its challenges. Designing an effective audio system that could meet all the specific needs of the project was not an easy task. It was with this in mind that SilliS - the partner company of the VLT for the sound system project - made it possible to customize an active solution that meets all current and future demands.
In addition to enhancing safety and optimizing operational processes with scheduled or real-time announcements, the new transportation system in Baixada Santista will also be able to create soundscapes easily thanks to the integration between SIMM.PRO and AXIS Audio Manager Edge.
Getting to Know the Solution Used
Today, the Santos VLT uses the AXIS Audio Manager Edge software in conjunction with AXIS C1410 mini speakers. Together, they provide quality audio for safety, protection, and operational efficiency.
With the integration of SIMM.PRO - which is developed exclusively by SilliS – into the existing system, we can control all announcements that will be made throughout the day, week, month, or year all at once, quickly and proactively, facilitating the daily operations.
And when we talk about announcements, we are not only referring to audio ones. We are also talking about announcements that can be issued as text through LED devices.
Additionally, the SIMM.PRO has advanced and exclusive features for scheduling media, events, and various other functionalities that assist and facilitate the operators' processes and improve the user experience when using the VLT.
What Are the Differentiators of SIMM.PRO?
It’s not enough to just say that the solution is good. We have to show its differentiators and its level of excellence.

The great differentiator of SIMM.PRO is its ability to integrate both speakers and LED panels, allowing them to work together or even separately.
In addition to being intuitive, it has various features for the moment of registering hardware and for possible future changes. For example, when registering a device in the system, it is possible to specify whether it is an audio or text output, whether it is active or inactive, and who the manufacturer is.
When registering zones, we can indicate whether that area is active or inactive and select a leader speaker – the one that will receive the information and disseminate the content among the others in the same zone – and a backup – which will replace the leader if it is not functioning.
Moreover, it is possible to create multiple zones and install 200 speakers within each one, but if the equipment is analog, there is no such limit.
There are so many features that it’s hard to list them all, but here are a few:
- Media storage repository (by folders and subfolders);
- Monitoring of media played in the last 24 hours and scheduled for the next 24 hours;
- Failover feature for speakers within the same zone;
- Scheduling of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual repetitions selecting the desired days with intervals of repetitions between plays in minutes or hours, and much more.
Bonus: its integration with AXIS Audio Manager Edge allows your operators to work with different interfaces within the same system.
